Roy's was built in 1908 and included on the State and National Historic Registers in 2004. This was formerly the Paden Drugstore, a hospital and dental office around the turn of the 19th Century. The first floor initially housed a commercial pharmacy and soda fountain. The second story housed a private hospital, laboratory and operating room. The small building beside the Gift Gallery was Dr. Paden's office.
Roy Dow purchased this site in 1977 and turned it into a Gift Gallery and Ice Cream Parlor where visitors could step back in time to when thousands of corner drugstores and soda fountains existed in America. Roy purposely kept this old time look and feel with wrought iron chairs and small tables, and he made THE BEST ice cream sodas until he passed away in 2013.
