Rolland's Drug Store
about Rolland's drug store…
Built for Art Rolland in the 1920's who opened the first drug store in Carrizozo and operated it until his death in 1950. Rolland's Family Pharmacy was the most popular place in town, perhaps in part to Rolland and Dr. Johnson's foresight in loading up on kegs of whisky before prohibition went into effect.
Rolland was the pharmacist, mayor, postmaster and Lincoln County Clerk. He married William McDonald's daughter and, after her death, Sadie LaFleur, who became Frank English's wife when both were widowed. The building served as a drug store and pharmacy till the early 1990s and is now the home of the 12th Street Coffee Shop.
